Comparison of heating costs from Absorption Heat Pump, Compressor Heat Pump and Gas Boiler

The fastest growing group of sorption technology applications are absorption heat
pump applications in process and district heating, leading to a significant reduction in
primary energy consumption by recovering unused energy or by using low-quality renewable
energy. Continuing the cycle devoted to sorption cooling systems, we present a comparative
analysis of the costs of heat production by a 6 MW boiler room operating for the needs of
the local district heating network, using three different technologies: an absorption heat
pump with an integrated burner, a compressor heat pump and a gas boiler.
